Did you know?

Every time we use plastic sponges tiny pieces of plastic wash off and enter our waterways. Eventually making their way to the ocean and causing havoc for birds and marine life who ingest them.

And they’re not the only ones, humans end up consuming microplastics too, whether it be from eating fish, sea salt or even drinking tap water!

The Breakdown

Sisal fibre dish brush by Earths Tribe is a zero-waste alternative to plastic dish brushes.

A plant based cleaning brush with sisal bristles and a wooden handle made from sustainable beechwood.

This eco-friendly scrubber is ideal for heavy cleaning such as pots and pans, dishes, glasses as well as cleaning vegetables such as carrots or potatoes.

What is sisal?

Sisal (agave sisalana) is an agave cactus and one of the most widely used natural fibres around the world!

The leaves are crushed in a mangle, where rollers remove the moist fleshy outer husk, leaving long off-white fibres. Bundled together then hung in the sun to dry.

It’s strong and durable making it ideal for brushing vegetables and cleaning dishes!

What are the benefits of using a sisal fibre dish brush?

Sisal fibre bristles are completely natural and made without the need of harsh chemicals.

Furthermore, it’s an excellent alternative to the plastic dishwashing sponges as it will last much longer, will not smell, rust or release plastic microfibres into the ocean.

Replacement heads are available, to simply switch out as needed an compost your old one or use it outside or garden.
